What it means when you sign
This article covers how long an offer stays open and when it lapses. The parties have the option to revoke the offer until the end of the contractual session. The offer lapses in four cases: when the person who made it withdraws it, expressly or by implication, before acceptance is issued; when the person it was addressed to rejects it, expressly or by implication; when the acceptance does not customarily follow the offer, or the period set by the offeror for acceptance runs out; and when either party dies or loses legal capacity before acceptance, even if the offer had a set duration.
When you are about to sign, this article means a proposal does not stay open indefinitely. A quotation with a stated validity period lapses when that period expires without acceptance. A counter-proposal may be read as rejecting the first offer. It is worth noting any deadlines in the documents exchanged before signing.
