What it means when you sign
This article says what happens when a foreign law applies but cannot be established. If it is impossible to prove the applicable foreign law, or to determine its meaning, the law of the United Arab Emirates is applied instead.
When you are about to sign, this article is relevant to contracts governed by a foreign law. It means that choosing a foreign governing law carries a practical condition: the content of that law has to be provable. If the foreign law cannot be proven, or its meaning cannot be settled, UAE law fills the gap. A contract that names an uncommon or hard-to-document foreign law may therefore end up governed by UAE law on the points where the foreign rule cannot be shown.
The article does not say who must prove the foreign law or how. It only sets the fallback to UAE law when proof or interpretation is impossible.
Not yet cited in a Fahm report; shown because it sits in the same chapter as one that is.
